People often wonder what they can do to help end the use of primates and all animals in laboratory testing. They often feel powerless against the various government agencies and private companies that control and regulate animal labs. There is one way in which you can have your voice heard: the power of the almighty dollar. By spending your money on products and medicine that do not test on animals or use animal by-products you are sending a powerful message that you will not tolerate the use of animals in this manner.

LPAG is not opposed to medical progress and understands that many of us have friends or family members who struggle with or have died from terminal illnesses. It is possible to advance our understanding of disease without using animals, and a number of charities do so by funding only non-animal based research. LPAG urges everyone to support only these charities that do not fund animal-based experiments.

Last, we encourage everyone to take care of themselves. Many of our common problems are preventable by eating a plant-based diet, exercising 4-5 times a week, and limiting smoking and drinking. Likewise, we urge everyone to practice safe sex. Why should animals have to suffer because we choose to overindulge and abuse our bodies?
